The remaining teams traveled to Indonesia for the ninth leg of The Amazing Race, shown on Friday, April 22.
Once teams landed in Bali, Indonesia, they were sent to the Tanah Lot for their first clue in the country. It told them to search for their next clue the following morning, along with a traditional Balinese offering.
The clue was found with towering fruit baskets nearby, that were to be delivered in the form of two offerings. One basket was to be delivered to the monks at the Pura Enjung Galuh Temple, while the other was to go to their brethren at the Snake Temple at Tanah Lot.
The first offering meant that the baskets were to be carried on their heads. The second offering involved two big snakes, wrapped around their necks.
Brodie said, “I’ve got the hugest snake just chilling right now.”
While Tyler’s snake started getting closer to his face, he joked and said, “I’m serving ‘I’m a Slave For You’ realness, giving you Britney Spears meets Bali.”
In the meantime, other contestants didn’t feel the same way about the situation. Zach said, “I hate snakes so much!”
After delivering the baskets, teams had to search for the next clue past the Bat Temple on Pantai Banjar Belatung Kusamba. At this point, Brodie & Kurt were annoyed at the fact that Tyler & Korey caught up.
Next up was a Roadblock. Teams had to fill baskets with seawater and pour it over beds of volcanic sand to evaporate. From there
, they had to scrape salt from two troughs and continue to fill and knot four plastic bags. This was done by Burnie, Tyler, Kurt, Cole, Matt and Rachel, who fell behind and put a strain on the team for the rest of the round.
At this point, Sheri & Cole discovered their Speed Bump as a result from the last leg. The mother/son team had to prepare and sell 10 bowls of Indonesian soup and also eat a bowl as well. They had to locate the food cart and get the ingredients of greens, meatballs, chili sauce and broth.
When eating a bowl of soup, Cole said, “I’m afraid of what kind of meat this is. Is it goat testicle?”
Next up was another Roadblock. Contestants had to assemble a big Indonesian kite in the proper manner and fly it on the beach. After the difficulty with the last Roadblock, it was time for the other half of each team to compete with all they had. This involved Korey, Ashley, Sheri, Dana, Brodie and Zach.
Tyler & Korey got to the Pit Stop first, followed by Burnie & Ashley in second and Sheri & Cole in third. Dana & Matt ended up in fourth, followed by Brodie & Kurt. In last place was Zach & Rachel.
After Phil told the couple they were eliminated, Zach said, “We ran hard, and I couldn’t have had a better Race with my best friend.”
