Sports Athletes and YouTubers will pair up and take each other on in DOOM’s brutal, fast-faced multiplayer tournament on March 29th at 3:00pm PT on Rooster Teeth’s YouTube channel, hosted by their very own lovely Tyler Coe and Jack Pattillo.
Bethesda is stirring up excitement about its May 13 release of Doom with the announcement of a new livestream event, calling it a “first of its kind” tournament where the pro athletes will team up with YouTube personalities for a hilarious blood-soaked Day of Doom. Watch as NFL players Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and MLS champ Thierry Henry team up with YouTuber gamers iJustine, SSSSniperWolf and Rooster Teeth’s Adam Kovic and Michael Jones as they attempt to utterly obliterate and humiliate each other.
Each team will be made up of one athlete and one YouTube star, with additional teammates from Rooster Teeth and Bethesda filling out the 6v6 roster. All six teams will face off in a single-elimination bracket-style competition until only one team is left standing, so be sure to check out the stream and see if your favorites will be victorious.
The teams include:
Antonio Brown + Justine Ezarik (iJustine)
Thierry Henry + Alia Shelesh (SSSniperWolf)
Rob Gronkowski + Michael Jones (Achievement Hunter)
Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson + Adam Kovic (Funhaus)
Fans will also have a chance to experience Doom’s competitive multiplayer during the closed beta that will run from March 31 through April 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more information and to determine eligibility, visit doom.com/beta.
“We’re thrilled to bring together some of the world’s greatest athletes with popular gaming YouTube stars for Day of Doom — the ultimate Doom multiplayer tournament,” said Pete Hines, the vice president of marketing and public relations at Bethesda Softworks, in a statement. “It’s the perfect way to kick off Doom’s multiplayer closed beta weekend.”
