The United Nations tapped several of YouTube’s most popular female stars  to be Change Ambassadors with the focus on the global fight for gender equality.

The first group of women YouTubers to participant in the United Nations’ Change Ambassadors program include Ingrid Nilsen (who recently interviewed the President) and Jackie Aina from the United States, Yuya of Mexico, Taty Ferreira of Brazil, Hayla Ghazal of the United Arab Emirates, Louise Pentland of the UK, and Japan’s Chika Yoshida, They represent passionate female creators who are brilliant role models in the YouTube community. These creators will work with the U.N. to inspire and activate their global fan communities, as well as women and girls around the world.

“Today, ahead of International Women’s Day, we’re announcing two new programs to continue championing female voices on YouTube,” the company wrote in a blog post. “The first is a new, year-long partnership with the United Nations that appoints top YouTube female creators as the very first Change Ambassadors for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Action campaign. The second is a global production program across the YouTube Spaces that puts women both in front of and behind the camera.”

The YouTube Spaces global production team is a multitude of female creators located in Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, New York, Sao Paulo, and Berlin. The six female creators Anna Akana and Alexys Fleming from the United States, Julia Tolezano of Brazil, Em Ford of the UK, Nilam Farooq of Germany, and Japan’s Kuma Miki acted as Creative Directors in their respective Spaces. They inspired and mentored other female creators who also participated in the global video shoots.

The team of creators filmed over 50 videos honoring historical female leaders and original scripted content, to discussions about women in the workforce and other women’s issues. These videos can be seen on YouTube Spaces channel, as well as the creators’ own channels.
