Who’s says one can’t start their dream job as a teen?
Michelle Phan can prove this to be false.

For Michelle, it all started on YouTube in 2006. Some of her videos are beauty tutorials, some are Trend Reports, and others are Pillow Talks with advice.

The beauty pioneer also has her own network called ICON Network, brought to you by Endemol Beyond.

But apart from Michelle’s passion for beauty, the 28-year-old has expanded her creations with her first comic Michelle-Phan-RoccoReportHelios : Femina,” which she began at 11 years old. The illustrated series has finally come to real life 18 years later and can be viewed in a vertical scroll format on LINE Webtoon.

The story features a female lead character named Rhea, living in a land with a not-too-distant future. Since the world has undergone a massive global change because of technology. The world’s landscapes and citizens begin to get destroyed, creating a singular government. She then discovers her magical powers and begins to save humanity.

The prologue, chapter one and chapter two were published on March 18. Beginning March 27, the remaining 26 chapters will be released every Sunday.

In a statement, she compared the development of her favorite interests to one another. “Just like how I uploaded my first video in 2007, I didn’t expect anyone else to watch it. I was really just doing it because I wanted to make something and share my passion for makeup.” She continued, “In this case, I’m doing the same thing: I’m creating something, and I don’t have any expectations. I just want to tell a story.”

Michelle has also brought beauty inspiration into the comic with the looks of the characters. The comic creator said she hopes the makeup looks in the story, inspire others to bring to real life. Recently, Michelle has dyed her hair similar to the style of Rhea in “Helios : Femina.”

In support of the launch of Michelle’s newest creation, she appeared on a LINE Webtoon panel as a panelist at the SxSWWomen in Digital Comics” event on March 18. The discussion involved the development of comics and how to go about reaching audiences through digital platforms.

With all of Michelle’s success so far with her realm of hobbies, not only is she an inspiration, but also her comic creations in her newest series.

Founder and head of LINE Webtoon, JunKoo Kim said, “We’re really proud of our wide appeal to female comic readers, and we couldn’t do that without partners like Michelle creating such digital native, quality content that fans are excited to read.”
