In this week’s episode of The Amazing Race, remaining teams flew together from South America to Geneva, Switzerland to continue their fight in colder temperatures.
Before leaving the airport, teams were surrounded by fans and encouraged to partake in selfies.
Also at this time, Brodie was called out for having a crush on Blair. Being that Brodie & Kurt had been ahead of the pack for a while, they hadn’t yet gotten a chance to meet the rest of the teams, including Blair and her father.
“There’s a little showmance brewing.” Jessica continued, “Blair and Brodie are about to be the new couple of The Amazing Race.”
By the time the teams landed in Switzerland, it was nighttime. They had to find the city’s 460-foot water jet stream, standing tall and brightly lit, seen in every which direction.
The teams ran through the streets with their eyes locked on the destination as Zach & Rachel got to the jet stream first, followed by Tyler & Korey.
“You’ve got to have good communication between you and your partner and we’ve got that,” Korey said.
The teams opened up the clue, which then directed them to a chocolate shop, called Chocolats Rohr Geneve. As the rest of the teams made their way to the shop, Burnie & Ashley arrived first and came across a board that showed their release number for the next morning. While they were placed in number one, Erin & Joslyn were number two.
At the end of the ladder, Brodie & Kurt placed in eighth now, followed by Scott & Blair in ninth.
At this time, the nine teams went to a nearby building, where sleeping gear awaited them in a stone-walled room. Once the lights went out, Brodie and Blair got closer than ever.
“We’re in some basement, cave, Knights of the Round Table sort of thing.” Korey later added, “Here we are, witnessing true love in its earliest stages.”
Burnie & Ashley were first to enter the chocolate shop the next morning, where they received a box of chocolates that held the next clue. The card stated the Detours to be chosen and completed: either Bench Work or Work Bench.

With Bench Work, teams had to figure out how many people the longest bench in the world could possibly fit, by holding a newspaper with a good amount of arms-width. The teams had to return to the 240-year-old bench if they counted a number outside of a range of 190-197 people. But if a number was counted within the range, the next clue would then be given. This was the detour of choice for Burnie & Ashley, followed by Erin & Joslyn, Sheri & Cole, Dana & Matt and Brodie & Kurt.
Work Bench meant that teams would going to a Victorinox store to assemble 27 pieces (in exact order) by hand, to build a Swiss Army Knife. Zach & Rachel, Tyler & Korey, Scott & Blair and Brittany & Jessica chose this detour.
Jessica mentioned that she already knew how to do this since she had a kit when she was younger. Although, her team couldn’t locate the store so it ended up that the models had to switch detours. Meanwhile, some of the teams were rejected of their knives as they were too loose.
The teams then headed over to the Broken Chair to search for the next clue. At the United Nations building, they were given a Roadblock: “Who’s having a banner day?” At this point, flags of ten countries had to be identified. These specific flags had to be ripped out of a booklet that held pictures of each flag for every country in the U.N.
Some of the teams had more difficulty figuring out the correct flag to the country. The video game FIFA, seemed to help Cole in this task.
Once the teams thought they had the correct flags, they brought the pictures to the judge. If any of the countries were wrong, they’d have to correct themselves.
Burnie & Ashley were the first to finish up. Burnie was given the clue, which said to take a train to the home of the first Winter Olympics, Chamonix, France. Much chaos occurred, as teams had to deal with layovers.
After the first train arrived in the alpine town, the teams had to run through snowy streets of Chamonix to find Phil in the town square.
Brodie & Kurt were first, second came Tyler & Korey, then Dana & Matt in third.
Last to the mat was Jessica & Brittany, who were eliminated from the Race. In reference to her teammate and sad about their departure, Jessica said, “She’s just like my other half – she’s like, the exact same person as me.”
Now making for eight teams left in the Race, check in for episode five on Friday, March 11.
