The Canadian singer-songwriter started her career by singing songs on Vine in early 2013. She created six-second vines of popular songs that grew her a dedicated fan following. A year later, Ruth B took a chance on her pop skills and posted a vine of her singing a made-up line, which was inspired from the television series, Once Upon a Time. The vine garnered 84,000 plus likes within a week, which is an unusual high number of likes for her at the time. Her fans fell in love with the hook and left comments of encouragement for Ruth B to turn the line into a full-length song resulting in the creation of Lost Boy. She uploaded Lost Boy to her YouTube channel, Ruth B, and released the single on iTunes in February 2015. After the single broke into the Top 100 on iTunes and received numerous YouTube views (2.2 million plus to date), the music industry then caught wind of the social sensation and record deals were on the table. Ruth B accepted an offer with Columbia Records in July 2015 to take her musical career to the next level.
Ruth B’s Columbia Records debut EP, The Intro, was released on November 27, 2015. It has four songs including Lost Boy and is available in both digital and physical form. Ruth B is currently on a radio tour promoting her single aiming for airplay on Hot Adult Contemporary and Top 40 radio. The full album is to be released this year.
