The President Obama interview with YouTubers Adande Thorne, Destin Sandlin, and Ingrid Nilsen has been viewed over one million times. All three YouTubers sat down individually with the President at the East Wing of the White House on Friday.

The YouTubers had an array of questions ranging from interesting to light-hearted fun. Their concerns covered topics; being African American, terrorism, minimum wage, gun control, to space and energy. One interesting fact was asked from fashion vlogger, Ingrid Nilsen, why does 40 states tax tampons and menstrual products as luxury goods. This is the first time the President heard of this policy and led the answer to Obamacare on women’s issues. YouTuber Adande Thorne asked the President to settle the beef, who is best rapper Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar? He replied, “Kendrick, his lyrics, his last album was outstanding.”

On the more serious side was YouTuber, Destin Sandlin from Getting Smarter Everyday, his conversation focused on his favorite topic, Space. Sandlin, who’s day job is for the Department of Defense, asked the President, if there was an element named Obamian, what would be the characteristics? He replied stable, catalyst – not too hot nor too cold, and must be useful to humanity. Sandlin inquired about NASA’s budget, now being the biggest it ever has been, asked the President to explain deep space exploration. The President tells a step-by-step process how it will take the space program to go beyond looking at Mars and going outside of the solar system.

Nilsen added her Sense of Self segment at the end of her interview with the President. This segment inquired about personal items one would keep around their office. Interesting to learn, President Obama carried in his front pocket trinkets that people have given him during his presidency. The most unique trinkets were Rose Beads given from Pope Francis, a little Buddha given from a Buddhist Monk, a lucky metal poker chip that a biker gave him in Iowa 2007 and a coptic cross from Ethiopia. These trinkets are kept as a reminder of all the people he met along his way with their hopes and dreams. Therefore, if he ever gets tired or discouraged, he pulls out an item from his pocket to remember why is he here and to overcome his moment.
