The plot of The Boy is about an American girl, Greta (Lauren Cohan), who takes a job as a nanny in a remote village in the United Kingdom. Upon arrival, she learns that the child she was hired to care for is actually a life-size porcelain doll that the parents treat like a real boy to cope with the death of their son. After she ignores a list of strict rules, disturbing events lead Greta to become convinced that the doll might be alive.
